I always wanted to start a ranch of my own, but since I am not in the position to do so, I would like to learn more about your facility. I work in the pediatric neurology field and I see these types of children on a daily basis, they always make me smile. I am also an animal lover (my sister calls me Snow White). I have two dogs and three cats at the moment. I also have a teaching back round. I you feel I would benefit your ranch in any way, please contact me. Thanks and good luck.
Gail

Im on a site with other parents of children with ASD talking about a dog for my son for companionship and someone suggested this site I knew it was probably an American site but I had to check in. It’s amazing what you do, I won’t get the benefit I’m in Ireland. I would love a service like this closer to home
We may be able to help you. Please email me direectly at Janice@MerlinsKIDS.org. I may be able to help you if you have a strong enough presence in your area. I look forward to hearing from you! Please do contact me prior ro August 16th USA EST or after September 2. Thank you!
Moving from Japan to Utah (military family) so my 3 yr daughter can get the services she so desperately needs, and the support i need as well… would love to have some more information about your program… i am in the process of researching different dog breeds to help my daughter… we had a elderly lab and my daughter has yet to experience the healthy, playful loving affection and dog can bring…. we lost our beloved 14 yr lab mix Daisy this past october…. we do have a very loving, forgiving, older cat that has taught my daughter so much with his unconditional love!!
some of the diagnoses my daughter has received: PDD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Disruptive Behavior Disorder, Petit Mal Seizures and severe Articulation Disorder, but i feel with our move her diagnoses might change…. we have had no services to date and looking forward to our hectic move!!
Lauren…-please contact Janice Wolfe at Janice@MerlinsKIDS.org. She will help you to understand options and is an expert on Service dogs and children with PDD. We are here to help YOU!

I am on this site for a friend of mine. She is dyslexic so she asked me to look up some sites for her. Her son has epilepsy and adhd. He really wants a dog for companionship and to play with but because he is so hyper a regular puppy wouldnt be good for him. I was just wondering if you have dogs that are trained to detect seizures and if not could you recommend an organization that does? Perhaps one with older, calmer, more patient dogs. I hope to hear from you soon. Thank you!
Please have your friend contact janice Wolfe. She may call Janice at 2017883882. She will answer all your questions…thank you!

Sorry Peter, at this time we are not hiring. We at Merlin’s KIDS are all volunteers, as every penny of donations goes directly to the dogs and kids and NOT to salaries and other money. If you would like to volunteer, we would welcome you and help to train you in the unique therapies we provide. We are always grateful for our volunteers, including foster homes, teachers, paraprofessionals, students, and wonderful people who love to give back! Thanks so much for your inquiry!

Several months ago, I mailed donations by check from myself and our car club, the Keystone Kruisers. As of yet, the checks have not been cashed. We are concerned that you have possibly not received them, or that they may have been misplaced. I would appreciate it if you could check this out and get back to me. Thank You

My son has a rare chromosome disorder, Chromosome 18q- or DeGrouchy Syndrome. He is 7 yrs old but has the intellect of about a 2-4 yr old. Are there any restrictions on whom may benefit from a service dog? My son is a “flight risk” as the school has labeled him and I have been researching the benefits of a service dog for several months.
Hi Shirley,
Please email Janice@merlinskids.org to make sure she received them!
Thanks for your support!

Greetings!
I was surfing the web in hopes of finding a free service dog for low income families when I came across this site. I was wondering if the dogs come fully trained as service animals or if we have to train them ourselves. I have 2 kids age 2 and under, I’m a full time college student, part time fundraiser for disaster relief, and a mom of a super awesome daughter recently diagnosed with High Functioning Autism and SPD. We currently live off my student loans, WIC, Snap, and Medicaid while I’m striving to gain my higher education degree. I’m looking for a service dog that is fairly large and can handle my daughters SPD. In addition, I’m looking for a dog trained to be a tether. My daughter tends to climb out of carts, run away from me when she gets out of the car, or just wanders off when overstimulated (result of her body shutting down). Since she has SPD, she isn’t able to handle sounds that are normal to people like you and me. For instance, fire alarms scare her. She puts her hands on her ears and either screams (followed by meltdowns) or just shuts down. I would like a dog who could teach her that it’s ok and guide her out of a building if that were to happen. She also isn’t able to sleep if some one isnt next to her. It would be nice to have a dog that can help serve in my place and give her the comfort and reassurance she needs through out the night; as I am not able to be next to her all night due to nursing my 9 month old son. Lastly, she has high anxiety when in public, so if the animal could learn to calm her to help prevent, redirect, or stop a meltdown that would be amazing!

I have two daughters with autism, adhd, and epilepsy and am interested in obtaining a service dog for my two daughters. My daughters have night seizures or early morning seizures that I need to be alerted to but would I just need one dog or a dog for each of them.
We can help you…please contact Janice@MerlinsKIDS.org to discuss y9ur options. WE are always happy to explain the process…in what state do you live?
Hello Janice,
I sent an email 3 different times under two different email accounts and each time I am getting a message that states undeliverable so I am very interested in finding out some info. My name is Olivia Parker and I wrote a comment to you yesterday looking for some info about a service dog. I have two daughters with Autism, ADHD, and epilepsy. I live in Illinois and am very interested in getting a service dog for my daughters. I have been looking for something that alerts me to my daughters seizures as I know they have probably had some without me knowing even though their rooms are right across from my room so I can hear them. My daughters seizures happen mostly at night and early morning. I am wanting to fill out an application but am wondering if I needed to fill out two different forms and if I only needed one service dog or two different dogs as each of my daughters sleep in separate rooms.
Thank you
Hello. I am searching for a service dog for my son, 14 years old, who has Cerebral Palsy. I have been at a loss for organizations that don’t have such long waiting lists for Service Dogs. My son is slightly unique, in that he is also allergic to most animals. He seems to do well with most allergy friendly dogs. We feel like our only other option is training a dog ourselves, however we don’t feel that we are qualified to do that, so a dog that is already trained is what we feel would most suit our situation. Thank you!
Well I don’t know where to start but I know there isn’t such things as accidents! We have a son that we adopted with Down Syndrome. He is 6 and is a blessing and challenge all in one. I have 4 adult children and three grand daughters. We are pretty complete. We also just had to put down our dog Rosie today and I was just thought I would check out service dogs for Kai. I can’t see to type right now. Maybe this will go some where. Thank~you!!!! Janice
have been considering getting my 4yr son a service dog but not sure how to go about it. my son has hydrocephalus (fluid on the brain), seizure disorder, developmental delay, CVI, so far he has had 22 brain surgeries, as well as surgery on his legs, hip, and belly. he is nonverbal right now but is starting to make LOTS of noise! he has never stood on his on or walked but we take his little wheelchair everywhere. he just recently started going to school a couple hrs a week about a month ago and just loves it. I really feel that a service dog would benefit him but like i said before, just dont know how the process works and how to go about it. any info would be great. thanks
Please give me a call at 20178 83882. I would be happy to speak with you and help you to determine if this is a good option for you. I look forward to speaking with you.
Has anyone gotten back to you yet? Please email us at the address on the application. We are always happy to answer questions.
We can definitely help you. Please give me a call at 2017883882. I would be happy to assist you in a value waiting your son for possible placement with a service dog. Depending on your son’s issues we can probably place a dog with him relatively quickly. It depends a lot on what we will have to train a dog to do for him. I look forward to speaking with you.
Please give us a call at 201788 3882. We will do our best to help you and your son. We will happily discuss your options and availability and will set your son up for an evaluation with us.. I look forward to speaking with you into helping you and your family.
