CHECKERS  was an adorable 4 month old puppy born “out of wedlock”; Checker’s daddy ran off to “the circus” before he was born.  Checkers lived in Texas until he found his long-term foster home with the wonderful North Texas Dog Whisperer Dawn Orr.  Dawn fostered Checkers for 8 months until he was grown up a bit and then he flew to New Jersey for his final training with Gary and Tami (and Danielle) who had fostered 3 dogs for Seeing Eye (and despite their fabulous work, had none graduate. Most agencies have only about a 10% graduation rate.) Checkers successfully completed his training in New Jersey and flew to Oldsmar, Florida to his new mommy Katherine.

KATHERINE is a beautiful and very bright (and funny!) young lady with Aspergers Syndrome.  Katherine needs Checkers to help her to cope with the sensory overload many kids with ASD and Aspergers face.  Checkers goes EVERYWHERE with Katherine and helps give Katherine the sensory input she needs.  He rides next to her on the seat on her school bus, accompanies her to school, and is always with her. Checkers is also a “friend magnet”, helping her to socialize and become an even more amazing young lady.  Donate just $25/month to help keep Katherine and Checkers to be forever friends! TV Interview with Katherine, Checkers and Janice

NOVA is unique. There is so much wonderful about this special girl.  Nova is partly deaf, but that never prevents her from being a happy, well-behaved young lady.  Nova lived in Arizona for her early life and was a little mischievous as a young adult.  Merlin’s KIDS was able to fly Nova out to New Jersey for us to rehabilitate and train.  She stayed on our farm with our personal dogs and a pack of wonderful rescues, and she has NEVER misbehaved since!   She was fostered by Naomi, Lou, and Sarafina for several months, being taught and trained by her amazingly loving family, including step-sister Mocha.  She is a very special and precious soul.

JESSE is a handsome, talented 11 year  old boy with Autism.  Jesse can repeat words but could become very frustrated due to his linguistic challenges and sensory issues.  Jesse’s mom has many health issues yet provides an incredible learning environment filled with love and calmness. Jesse needs Nova to be near him, giving him sensory input and responsibility for something other than himself.  With Nova’s help, Jesse learns to be more aware of his surroundings, watching out for traffic while crossing the street, and is gaining confidence and maturity.  Due to Jesse’s mom’s very difficult situation, we really ask for your support and donations for Nova and Jesse.  Dog food and vitamins are a big expense as is veterinary care and Jesse and his mom need our help.  Jesse’s mom also volunteers for Merlin’s KIDS locating and evaluating potential service dogs for other children.  She is a blessing to Merlin’s KIDS and to other children and she is a beautiful person. Donate just $25/month to help Nova to help and teach Jesse and help this incredible mother/son team!  Please type (Nova & Jesse) in the space on the DONATE button page….Jesse and Nova thank you for your support!
